Polar Gallery

This room showcases part of the Museon’s unique collection of items from the Inuit of East Greenland. The collection is one of the most important in Europe. It is the result mainly of collecting activities by Nobel laureate Niko Tinbergen in 1932-1933, Gerti Nooter between 1965 and 1975, and the Museon in 1998.

The presentation offers visitors and schoolchildren insight into present and future changes in the natural environment and culture of the polar region. The Polar Gallery is intended to serve as a place where institutions of scientific research can present the results of their recent polar research in an educational museum setting.
