Fossils from Brazil

Fossils from the Brazilian Araripe region, from the time that the connection with South America was broken and the southern Atlantic Ocean developed.

Naar overzicht

The Brazilian Araripe region is a world famous site. The fish fossils found here are about 110 million years old. It was time the connection with South America was broken and the southern Atlantic Ocean developed. In this process a special environment developed in which dead fish were perfectly preserved, including even the inner structures. A collection of insects also comes from this region.
