The fossils from Morocco are of Maastrichtian age (Upper Cretaceous, some 65 million years ago), but may be slightly younger (Eocene, 50 million years ago). They were found near Khouribga, where phosphate formations are being reclaimed. These formations are found in a zone of West and North Africa, Saudi Arabia to East Asia. This corresponds with the southern borders of the former Tethys Ocean from the Mesozoic Era. The most important fossils are a crocodile with a gavial-like shape (possibly a Dinosaur’s spec.) and a few large jaw parts of a Mosasaurus. A shark part, possibly a Lamna spec. is also part of the collection. The spinal column is 120 centimetres long.
