Chinese women’s shoes

For centuries, Chinese men thought that small, tightly bound women’s feet were sexy. Such tiny feet were a sign of wealth. The women were maimed and in pain. They could only totter along and certainly couldn’t work. When China became a republic in 1912, foot-binding was officially banned.
